Ginger Snaps

 

Ingredients 12 oz Self Raising Flour
pinch Salt
7 oz Caster Sugar
1 tbs Ginger
1 tsp Bicardbonate  of Soda
4.5 oz Butter
2.75 oz (quarter cup) Golden Syrup
beaten egg
1 orange - grated rind

 

Method

Mix the flour, salt, caster sugar, ginger and bicardbonate of soda.

Melt the butter and golden syrup in a pan.

Combine the dry ingredients with the butter and golden syrup and add the beaten egg and orange rind.  

Roll out into a sausage shape and cut into even sections.  Roll into balls in the hand and place on a greased baking tray.  Flatten slightly and bake for 15-20 minutes at 160C, 325F or Gas Mark 3.
