Apple Chutney

Ingredients
3 lb Peeled Apples
8 oz Raisins
4 oz Onions
4 oz Mustard Seed
3 pints Vinegar
1 lb Brown Sugar
3 oz Salt
2 oz Ground Ginger
Quarter oz Cayenne Pepper

Method

Soak the Mustard Seed overnight in the vinegar.  Chop or mince the apples, raisins and onions.  Heat all the ingredients until soft enough to press through a colander.

Pour into jars and store in a cool dry place.

I found this very old hand made recipe book which my mother had put together.  The pages had been duplicated on a Roneo or Gestetner.  The cover had been hand decorated.
