| 4 oz | Plain Flour | |
| 1.5 oz | Lard and Margarine mixed | |
| 1.5 oz | Sugar | |
| 1 | Egg | |
| 0.5 level tsp | Baking Powder | |

Rub the fat into the flour until it is like bread crumbs. Add the sugar and baking powder. Beat the egg and mix to a stiff dough. Turn onto a board and roll with hands into a long sausage. Divide into 6 portions. Form each portion into a ball and form a hole in the centre. Add the jam into the hole and seal returning the portion to a ball (containing jam).
Bake in a fairly quick oven for about 20 minutes.
